“Hopefully you’ll have a good time.” Rosemary makes a mental note to get a sitter for the day herself. Since trick or treating with the kids ends well before eight, she thinks her and Xander will have plenty of time to go somewhere themselves. “It’s still a lil’ surreal, you know? By next Halloween I’ll have three lil’ babies to dress up.”
“One can only imagine.” They give themselves a mental note to check in on a few people. “That does seem so surreal. All of a sudden three lil ones to have about – all in cute costumes, all demanding to be part of the fun. Time always does seem to past so incredibly quickly.”
“Well, you should consider going out if you’re up for it. Before I adopted Ari I would go out to bars on Halloween and it was so much fun. Drinking and dressing up is just an incredible combo.”
“I mean it does sound fun. I guess I’ll have to ask around about who’s having a little get-together I can dress up for. ” Living somewhere Halloween isn’t really a big deal makes it more of an effort if Saima cares to participate.
“Definitely! Having the whole family dress up together for Halloween is one of my favorite things ever.” She takes a pause to ask about her friend, mainly because she worries she is talking far too much about herself. “Do you usually dress up?”
“That sounds like a nice bit of family fun.” They say idly as they peruse some more of the clothing. “I only do so if I’m explicitly invited to a Halloween party. Otherwise, I don’t really celebrate it.”
“Aw, that is cute! You know, I always wanted to get the kids lil’ matching outfits. Figure I should do it now while they still don’t think it’s embarrassing, you know?”
“There is something quite endearing about the matching outfits. Seems like a good idea to at least try and make the most out of it while you can.”
“Right? I’d totally wear this.” Chirps the dreamer as she shows off the rabbit eared hoodie. She thinks clothes for adults could use some more colors and other fun additions. “Did anything catch your eye yet?”
“Yeah – that seems like it would be fun to wear.” Glancing around they pick out a cool striped shirt with multiple colors. “This is a kind of cool little top here.”
“Definitely.” Rosemary giggles as she picks up a small hoodie with bear ears. “Honestly, I’m more willing to spend money on clothes for my kids than stuff for me…Shopping for them is just much more fun!”
“That’s totally fair.” They glance around casually at the selection. “Besides, it seems like all the fun clothing is often for kids anyway. Not many willing to have kind of silly and fun things for adults these days.”
Rosemary nods as she walks to the clothing aisle. Picking out outfits for her children has always been her favorite part of the shopping experience. “The baby is due in February, so I want to pick out some warmer clothes. Have you seen those tiny lil’ puffer jackets for babies? They’re beyond cute!”
Saima aims to just accompany Rosemary and be of service whenever possible. “Ah I see. Warmer clothes would be ideal for that time for sure. I think I have – they are so, so cute. I don’t know who came up with them – but I guess appealing to the parents is always a good idea.”
“Thanks for coming with me.” By the end of the week Rosemary will officially be in her second trimester, so she thought she should start shopping for baby supplies. Much to her delight her friend agreed to join her while she did so. “Have you ever gone shopping for baby stuff before? It can honestly be a lil’ overwhelming…”
“You’re welcome. Glad I was able to help.” It seemed like the very least that Saima could do was to offer help or at least, companionship while going shopping for baby supplies. “Ah, can’t really say that I have. I know there’s a lot of stuff out there so it can be something to navigate.”
“They’re lil’ terrors.” Rosemary sighs with a smile as she finishes washing out her dress, figuring it’s the best she can do for the time being. Before she can pull the piece of clothing out of the sink though she suddenly feels a sharp pain in her stomach and starts to fall backwards.
“Certainly can be.” They say with a small grin. But seeing Rosemary start to fall, instincts kick in and Saima moves quickly to catch her. “What even, we need to get you somewhere comfortable. What’s happening, Rosemary?”
“Jeez Louise…” Rosemary mumbles as she tries to wash her dress in the sink. “Ari and Dahlia were bickering and they tried to throw their drinks at each other, but it ended up on me!” She sighs and shakes her head. “I don’t even know how they learned to do that! They must have been awake while I was watching Bachelorette reruns…”
“Oh dear. That’s quite the situation. Guess that would be the only place that they’d see that kind of nonsense.” It was strange the kind of behaviors shown on those types of shows, and even stranger knowing it was recreated by children. Or at least attempted to.
