❝It sounds like you’ve been keeping busy.❞ Once she has their cup, she grabs a plate full of sugar cookies and brings them all to her guest. ❝Do you like Halloween?❞
“Yeah, that’s one way to put it.” They give a bit of a small laugh. Keeping busy was the way to be these days. “I mean, it’s not a tradition for me but..it’s interesting to hear about.”
❝Oh, I’m fine. I’ve mostly just been getting ready for Halloween.❞ As she explains this, she pours a glass of Earl Grey tea. ❝How have things been for you?❞
“Ah, I see. It is getting to be towards that time of year again isn’t it.” For someone who doesn’t really partake in the day, it’s still interesting to hear about. “Oh normal I suppose. Still doing lessons for people, running errands. It’s not bad really though.”
❝I definitely enjoy it. I actually took a bit of a break when my daughter was born, but I’ve begun to get back into the swing of things the past few months. ❞ Rosemary struggled at first but she eventually she was able to regain her muse.
“It’s good that you were able to get back into it. I know how it is trying to get back into the groove of things after taking a break.”
Rosemary cannot imagine what those other activities are but they have made it clear that this is not the place to discuss them, so she will not inquire further. ❝Well I think it’s wonderful that you contribute to the community like that. I try to do that too when I can. I’m a painter, so I teach art classes sometimes.❞
“Yeah, it definitely gives me a sense of joy and connection to assist in the community.” Being involved within the lives of their people was a way to maintain a sense of relevance and usefulness in modern times. “A painter hm? I’ve always been a big fan of creative people so it’s cool that you share your talents with others.”
❝Oh, that’s lovely. What kind of work do you do?❞ Rosemary assumes it has something to do with teaching, but there is no harm in asking.
Well, this wasn’t an awkward question at all. How to describe what they do. “Um. I do a number of things. Sometimes music lessons, sometimes programming. And other things I probably shouldn’t talk about at the supermarket.”
