“I do – it is one of my favorite holidays. Between the markets and the food, it’s nice to be out and about during that time of year.”
❝Oh!❞ Upon seeing the ornament her son made on the floor, she picks it up and places it back on the tree. ❝I’m glad I saw this. It would have been devastated if I stepped on Aristotle’s class project.❞
“Yeah, that would have been a most unfortunate situation. Thank goodness you paid attention just in time.” It was a little funny how so much came down to little moments of noticing what was around you.
❝I think it’s important to make your art for yourself first, but it’s still rewarding to see people enjoy it as well! It really feels like you’re making an impact on others.❞
“Oh definitely. It’s your work – might as well express yourself the best way that you can. It’s nice to see that others might be able to get something out of what you do.”
❝I guess I can sort of relate. I kinda feel that way when my art is being displayed at galleries. It’s not quite the same, but I get excited seeing how people react to my work.❞
“I tend to think that seeing your art displayed and the reactions to it can be similar. It’s not as direct an exchange of emotion but… I can totally see how that would be incredibly satisfying.”
❝Regardless of the crowd size, I think it’s impressive that you’re able to get on a stage in general. I’d be terrified to perform live in front of people.❞
“Right. I get an energy, a thrill out of performing for others – it allows me to show myself that general interaction doesn’t really permit. But it’s definitely not for everyone.”
❝If I’m to be perfectly honest, I don’t know much about local shows. I really don’t get out as much as I should.❞
“Well, all the more occasion for you to find out. But really, it just means that there’s likely to be a smaller crowd and most of the artists that perform are from the area.”
❝Please, it’s going to be my pleasure to see you! To be perfectly honest, I’ve been curious ever since you told me about it.❞
“Still, it’s an honor that you’d attend. That’s fair – I don’t really go out of my way to promote those shows much since they are pretty local. But I do enjoy when others like to attend.”
