The night sky had often captured Saima’s imagination. Gazing up at night had been a relaxing thing over the years, and it inspired a sense of comfort. Which had been useful when dealing with being so removed from places that they had considered home.

With it being as important as it was, it was no surprise that they continued to scan the skies every so often even if the scenery had a certain consistency over time.

Pausing from their own examination of the sky, Saima glanced back at Aaron.”Yeah, I look to the skies quite a bit. I find it relaxing and enjoyable. It’s nice to just let your mind drift a bit while observing the night sky.”

“Do you dislike it?” Curiosity, but they don’t press further. “That it does–as much as I may enjoy it, I still can’t help but be relieved it’s over.”

“Not really. I just hadn’t really noticed how forthright I’ve been until it’s noted. So it’s a little funny when that happens. ” A nod of understanding.”I can relate. It’s something that means a lot to me but some measure of quiet afterwards is all too appreciated.”

“As honest as ever.” They intially found it odd, but it’s now becoming more of an endearing quality. “Not very restful, but I did enjoy them, thank you.”

“Guilty as charged.” A bit of a self-deprecating smile. “Ah well, it’s good to hear that you enjoyed it. That time of year can get to be so busy.”

“If I didn’ know better, I’d think you missed me. I assume the holidays treated you well.”

“Well .. you’re not wrong in that thought..” Nerd. “The holidays have been well for me – a restful and pleasant time really. And for you?”

For a moment, Aaron thinks Saima may have stopped following, may have been cautious enough to prefer staying still. It’s only when they glance over to double-check that they realize and raise a brow. “You’re terribly light-footed. I’m impressed.”

At least it meant they needn’t worry over Saima. The deity seems to have a little more trouble. Their domain is large, and Aaron is just the same in form–though they can step carefully enough the floorboards barely creak, the old wood still strains and complains beneath their weight.

The raised eyebrow earns a sly smile in response. “I’m able to make myself pretty light. One of a number of hidden tricks.”It was a real perk of being so closely associated with spirits that they could lighten their form as such. Saima always did find some way or another to make their otherworldly nature useful in even the most unlikely of situations.

The sounds of the floorboards under Aaron serve as a good reminder of why it’s necessary to be cautious.

“Right, I understand.” Words of advice were to be taken – although it also suggested that it wouldn’t hurt for Saima to make themselves a little lighter. If only to make it easier to get around in such a fragile environment. These older mansions always did need to be navigated with great care. “Don’t need taking that unnecessary risk.” Closer to the wall they remained, carefully moving as if their feet weren’t hitting the floor at all.

Send me a number and I’ll write a starter for our muses in that setting

“Exactly my thoughts.” They feel they’ve had to settle often enough in the past, they deserve better now. A quiet thanks for holding the door and Aaron steps into the shop, eyes skimming over the menu. “Any recommendations?”

“Recommendations?” They pause to think for a moment. “I know that they make pretty good lattes and can add whatever you might want as a complementary flavor. But their espresso is very good. And a cold brew is enjoyable as well. I just usually go for a simple coffee with cream and that’s satisfied me pretty well.”

likeglory:

“To be fair, I ‘pose the cappuccinos and such ain’t the worst I’ve had.” Which, admittedly, isn’t saying much–they’ve had to drink coffee brewed from peanuts before. It’s not something they’d actually recommend.

“Fair. I mean they’ll do in a pinch. But I’d rather have the option to go for something else. Something better, you know?” They know how it is to have to make do out of limited resources which makes them all the more thankful for changes since then. It didn’t take long before the pair arrives at the coffee shop ad Saima opens the door for Aaron.
