“It’s always been my favourite time of year as well! I think that goes for almost everyone around our neck of the woods though.” Ivar lets out a bit of a chuckle as he continues to weave and hold hair in place, making sure to do it all right and proper. “Winter lasts so long that everyone gets so sad when our one single month of amazingly warm weather goes away.”

“Heh, that’s definitely true. It’s that time of year when everyone around gets all kinds of up to some shenanigans. It’s totally worth it though to make the most of the good weather.“ They laugh, all too aware of how common it was for people in the northern europe area to get especially into Midsummer.

“Of course. Summer brings out a whole another side of people and to see it go is always a little melancholic.“

It was relaxing to get your hair braided, especially when there were flowers involved. Just in time to get prepared for the summer holidays. “Oh yeah, this is pretty much the right time to get in gear for it.” They were already fairly excited just thinking about the prospect of Midsummer. “Oh definitely. Midsummer is one of my favorite times of the year. I love being around all the parties and bonfires that happen during this time.” And it allows them to spread a sense of their magic among the people that fits with the occasion. Saima could ask for nothing more than that.

“Not particularly. Make me feel better?” The swede smirks as he plops down beside Saima and moves to throw his legs up and across their lap as he wraps an arm around their torso and rest his head on their shoulder for a moment. “I feel nasty.”

“Well, I can try.“ It was all they could promise and the least that they could do. Saima does remain still as Ivar rests against them. “Sorry to hear that you feel nasty. How long has this been going on?“

🎼~

What is your opinion on how music, art, and culture has changed?

“Personally, I live for the changes over the years. I know people get nostalgic for certain time periods and certain kinds of culture. But honestly, I am really excited to see how the way people explore common themes in different ways. It’s fascinating to see what kind of trends come around in creation and how they are transformed and transfigured. I may have my personal favorites, but I’m always looking forward to seeing what else might come along and grab the people’s attention.”

icecoldredfever:

Ivar eyes Saima up for a moment with those reflective red eyes of his for a moment, before leaning back to sit in his seat normally once again, a smirk plastering itself back onto his face again. Seemingly satisfied that they were being truthful, he nodded his head.

“Good. Doin’ what you love, s’ the only way to feel right. I’d hate t’ see ya withering away in an office chair, rather see ya out in middle of nowhere with the wind your your hair.” He chuckled to himself.

Saima nods in agreement. “Exactly, there’s no reason for me to be contained. It’s a waste of my capabilities really.Out in the fields, the forests with the wind in my hair, song and stories on my lips and an otherworldly attitude in my heart.  It’s where I came from and where my true self always seems to come out. And I wouldn’t wish for anything else.”

As they speak about the times they spend being the presence they are, something in Saima eyes seems to alight. It’s clear that they have a deep fondness for that way of navigating the world.

icecoldredfever:

“Good t’ hear. I could never get into the suit wearin’ uptight aspect of it, hell I don’ think many of us could. Silly boring shit.” He sets the glass down and turns in his seat to face them with a smirk as he leans forward to lose more closely to Saima’s face.

“You’re not lyin’ tho? Ya can be honest with me, I’m always honest, even when people don’ want me t’ be.” Maybe it’s just some worry for his friend. He just wanted to be sure that they trusted him to be honest.

“Such boring nonsense. And it’s like the humans are going to do what they’re going to do. So my efforts are definitely bettered used elsewhere.“ Saima had gone to take a drink from their vodka and coke when Ivar went to get a closer look at them.

They give a bit of a laugh – it’s a dry laugh but not bitter. Just the expression of someone who has seen entirely too much and feels a strange kind of release. “I’m not lying. If I’m real honest with you, I was so desperate to get out that role for a long time. But never felt like I could since I had been used to it.  I had to actively remind myself that wasn’t what I made to do, that I had a further purpose than bothering with diplomacy games people want to play.  I needed the freedom to be myself fully and completely.”

icecoldredfever:

“Mm.. Don’ think I’ll try replacin’ it tho. Probably jus’ gotta get back into it somehow. I use t’ only do it for work, but I could probably jus’ pick it up for myself or some other purpose.” Ivar shrugged to himself before grinning and looking to Saima. “I don’ fuckin’ know what purpose but whatever. How about you, dearest? Last I heard ya were takin’ a break from th’ official scene and doin’ your own thing. Been payin’ off or are ya regrettin’ it?”

“That’s fair. Nothing wrong with doing it as a hobby. At least you can maintain the fun of it.“ It was a main reason why they were comfortable not trying to do things full-time, to reduce the pressure of trying to make a living off of it.

“Ah yeah, I’m out of that official scene. I don’t really regret it at all. I mean, I miss a couple of associates but I can maintain those friends on a personal level anyway. I don’t miss trying to fit into what a diplomat looks like, and I have been living a lot more authentically. Which was necessary after so much time.“

icecoldredfever:

“Ja. Yeah, I do. Not all the time, but ya know..” He shrugs his shoulders and decides to kick back what’s left in his glass with a small hum of content at the burn that followed. Not a strong as straight, but still something warm and fondly familiar. “When ya do somethin’ you’re passionate about for a long time, then ya change your life completely and stop.. sorta leaves a bit of a hole in ya.”

“I get what you mean. I think that change definitely leaves something missing …and it can’t readily be replaced.“ It was a feeling that Saima had been familiar with as of lately. Although their passion wasn’t quite in the same place, they knew leaving was for the best in the long run. Even that knowledge though couldn’t replace a lot of the loss that seemed to come with the territory,

icecoldredfever:

“Hard t’ believe I haven’t worked as a dancer in over four months.. I think it’s been that long anyway. Damn..” Ivar tips the glass around in a circular motion to mix his vodka and cola around a bit as he contemplates the thought of how long it had been. Too damn long for his liking.

“Hm, that has to feel like it’s been a while. Do you miss it?” A sincere question comes from Saima as they glance out into the distance for a moment. They knew something about leaving a previous job – but in Ivar’s circumstances, the change would be much different.
