Setau nods, nibbling at his bottom lip as he thinks about it. He often feels he is potentially helping someone but sometimes Thoth tells him he’s messing with the Order– too much good was sometimes a bad thing in his father’s eyes but….to Setau it was always a good thing.

“Ah, well, it is a good thing then to be able to do as you please. I mean, if you’re helping…that’s a good thing, no?”

Saima thinks for a moment before nodding. “Yeah, I do try to be of service to people. And I get a lot of pleasure and fulfillment by helping people in a variety of ways.” While they knew it wasn’t really fitting of them to be to interventionalist in the lives of people, Saima did enjoy being a positive influence whenever they could. And sometimes that would have to be enough.

“Yeah, I guess so. I just hope she feels better about it in the next few months.” As she says this, she smiles at her daughter. In response the toddler reaches out and places a hand on her cheek. “Thank you sweetie.”

“That’s very real. I hope that she does as well.”  Saima still can’t help but smile a bit when they witness Dahlia placing a hand on Rosemary’s cheek. “Still very precious though, nonetheless.”

Seeing Saima eyes land on the book she holds it up, the silver letters of its cover reading George R.R Martin A Feast for Crows bold and hard to miss. “I’ve been busy preparing for the new school year but otherwise fine. Unfinished summer reading,” she explains with a small shrug. “Not my usual genre and still the breaks between seasons wore on my patience.” Damn Kitty and Kurt and their continues marathoning of season one.

Once they see the silver letters, they give a nod of recognition. That had been a book they had checked out and of course, Martin’s work was quite engaging. “Hm, that’s very fair. Sometimes you’ve got to check out something new. I totally get being annoyed with the breaks between seasons. I’ve had to fall out of it for a bit cause following it felt like a lot.”

Gently, she covers her daughter’s ears so she can speak more freely about the situation without upsetting Dahlia. “She told me that she specifically doesn’t want a brother. I have no clue why…I’ve been reading her books about becoming a big sister but she isn’t having any of it.”

Saima listens carefully to what Rosemary says, only finding more sympathy for the situation. “Huh. That’s very strange – sorry to hear that. I guess it’s one of those things you can’t really continue to push on her when she’s not feeling it.”

traumeriin‌:

Rosemary sighs as she continues to rub her daughter’s back. “I think she is acting out because of the B-A-B-Y.” She spells it out, since just mentioning the word distresses Dahlia.

A nod of understanding. “Oh dear, yeah I can imagine how she would be having a hard time.” It’s enough to wonder how the young girl is going to get through the rest of the time before the baby is born.

“Are there things like that? W–With gods I mean…” Thoth had on more than one occasion talked about trickster gods and even his own ‘peers’ that he felt did more harm than good for humanity– although, Thoth pretty much complained about everyone but himself.

“Like you’re…you’re very kind and I’m sure you only do…do nice things for people– do you have a…an adversary god? Someone who counteracts what you do?” Granted his situation at work with writers being counter intuitive to his own goals was much different than a light versus dark scenario.

“I mean – sure, there are definitely opposing forces. Although some of these ‘trickster’ figures might actually feel like their influences are in some way helpful.“

Saima gives a bit of a chuckle. “I do try to do nice things for people but.. I’ve had my own trickster moments from here and there. So I can be more ambivalent than I seem at times. I don’t exactly have an adversary god personally – but there are figures in the pantheon who have a more outright mischievous approach to things. ”

“Yer all too willing…no protest…makes a little fuckin’ nervous to tell ye the truth”. The novice mechanic snorts with a tilt of his head, joking to say the least, feeling at the other’s edge and anxiety thats all too apparent. “Why don’t ye fuckin’ relax, can see right through ye and make yer way ta the office”. Clyde grumbles with a light roll of his eyes, feeling the California sun burning through his back.

“Fair. Don’t mean to put you on edge.” They give a bit of a self-deprecating laugh. “Just thought you’d know what the situation is – so I don’t any reason to be argumentative about it.” It was just the sheer fact that they had brought the car here for a reason, might as well put some trust in those who worked there.

“Heh, right. I’ll go and get out of your way then. Probably make things smoother anyway.“ With that, Saima moves to head over to the office, it was as good a place as any to wait during the process.

Eve’s eyes widen briefly, but then she starts to laugh. “Really? You’ve got the coolest friends. No one has ever given me a snake.”

With Eve’s reaction, Saima can’t resist chuckling a bit as well. “Yeah, I’ve been lucky enough to meet some really interesting people. I guess it really is a matter of who you know – and who you know who really is into snakes.”
