1 and 4?

1. What’s one experience your character had that made them very afraid?

There’s been a solid number of these. But let’s say the first time invaders came to Estonia when they were a kid. They were very angry at the intrusion but they were also scared because they didn’t really know what was really going to happen to them. Usually the people managed to fight them off – but when the Danes actually took over the place, that was a situation Saam was definitely not ready for.

4. Has your character ever been hurt or betrayed by someone they thought they could depend on? What happened?

Yes. Let’s say some individuals that they thought they could rely on to help them maintain their independence in mid-century, ended up being overly complacent and complicit really in allowing forces to take over their homeland which would lead to a long period of pretty intense hardships the ramifications of which still haunt them to this day.

23. Is your character more physically or emotionally strong? Why is this?

I would definitely argue that Saam is more emotionally strong because they’ve had their existence basically trappled on multiple times and still managed to come out of it determined to continue. And I feel like there’s a ton of resilience to their character that has helped them get through truly horrifying times.

Not to say that they’re physically weak per say – much stronger than they appear despite their history since otherwise, they would have been wiped out at earlier points in time. But I think this comes through best in combination with that emotional strength that they have.

Who is their foil (character contrast)

Ohhh, this is a really good one. I, I’m not honestly sure. I haven’t fully thought about this all that much.

But I think Denmark could be one actually. But I generally feel more overtly enthusiastic characters could certainly serve as some kind of foil for Saam.

Someone who they have thought of in some sort of sexual context

Uh. It could be a number of folks but most of the time it is very fleeting. And most of the random passing thoughts don’t get much further than a kiss if Saam doesn’t know them well.

I’ll just say @blcemetjes – even though her muse hasn’t been on a minute. Saam definitely has had thoughts about him.

Saam, pick three people you know but don’t know well and please tell us, FMK?

   [internal screaming]

Yeah, okay. Um sure,  this is actually pretty difficult because if I don’t know someone at least somewhat well, I’m not likely to want to do anything remotely intimate with them outside maybe kissing at the most.

Fuck – I guess Cyril maybe? He’s cute.

Marry –  …uh, Aaron perhaps. I uh. I’m not going to try and explain that.  But Mameko is also potentially a good choice

Kill –  whoever else. [shrug] but really I can’t say, sorry. Not good at casually just throwing someone to die.

👘

– traditional costume.

For as much as Saam wanted to spin out of the limits that bounded them, traditional dress had been the one area they couldn’t fully feel great outright flaunting their differences.  So there they are in a billowy linen shirt,  short-coat and breeches with some metals worn to the top of the shirt.

While such an outfit brings back many colorful memories of dancing and celebration, it is rather festive at heart – it also brings back memories of a lack of knowing –  of feeling not like quite yourself. The mixed emotions are there but for the sake of their people, they will bear it for propriety’s sake.
