“My my my, the whole series is like a jigsaw puzzle then, hm? I’m tempted to get back into them just so I can figure out the story! I like a challenge, especially if it’s a challenge that you have to work for.
Huh. Well, maybe a little later I can go looking for one.. I got paid a few days ago so perhaps I coulda afford to splash out. The only trouble is I am absolutely rubbish at figuring out how to use them.. Are you any good with them? Perhaps you could help me..”
“Indeed, it has plenty of mysteries to unravel. So you could easily get yourself invested in it over time. It’s definitely something you’d have to work for to figure it out.”
A nod of interest. “Yeah, it’s something that you’d want to pay a bit for just so you won’t have to get more upgrades. I’m pretty good with them though so I could help you with what you needed.”
“Ooohhhh so he likes to tease us, huh? Well, I’m always a sucker for horror, believe it or not, and if there’s an actual story tied in with the games, going back and checking it out will definitely be on my to-do list.
Are they all available to play on mobile? Or – do you at least know where I can get a cheap laptop? I don’t really have a computer that will run the applications. I do want to at least have a look at the games, but I don’t know if I’ll get the full gist of it if I use my phone..”
“Oh, he totally loves leaving clues and things for people to piece together the story. It only encourages the curiosity of those looking to figure out the mystery. So I think it would be worth your while checking it out. I think most of them have mobile copies but just in case – I know there are some decent refurbished machines online that go for good prices.”
“Ek.. Sorry, sorry..” Nonna waved a hand, perhaps in the vague hope that she could waft away the awkward silence slowly filling the room.
“Huh, so the story has an expansion? I didn’t think there was anything else to it apart from a bunch of killer robots running around trying to kill you. I remember there being something about the said killer robots may or may not be possessed by children too, but.. Nothing is really for certain in those games, is it? I’m guessing that things get explained in the later games then? Gosh, I really need to play them again..
I should probably invest in getting a better computer too.”
Saam was definitely willing to move on from the previous discussion. “Oh yeah – it definitely has a lot more of a connected tale and timeline to all the events in the game. There’s a lot of backstory and lore that accompanies the gameplay which people enjoy investigating further. And the game’s creator encourages things by leaving little hints.”
“I think I would be if I had the time, yes.. But most off my free time is spent either napping or reading, I don’t think I’d have the time to surf the web, it’s why I don’t have a computer. When I get home from work, the first thing on my mind is an hour’s nap, then dinner, and then I usually settle down with a book for the night unless Lucas wanted to do something.”
Nonna shrugged a shoulder, and then cast Saam a slightly worried and awkward glance.
“I, uh, wasn’t referring to sex right there or.. Or anything, just in case you thought I was, I wasn’t, um.. But.. But anyway, um, o-oh there are four now? Gosh, I really have missed a lot. The last I heard of it was that there was maybe going to be a third? I wonder if it’s worth getting back into all of it, despite how much it scared me at first, I did enjoy playing the first game.”
“Hm, that’s fair. Limited time only gives you access to doing certain activities. I can understand wanting to spend your time doing other things. ” When Nonna went out of her way to explain that she wasn’t referring to sex, Saam only gave a somewhat skeptical look.
“You.. you didn’t really need to explain that outright. I would have figured maybe he had other things he could have wanted to do. But yea there are a solid number of games to get into. I think it’s been interesting – so I would recommend getting into the series again to follow the expansion of the story.”
“Ah, I see.. I was never really into YouTube so maybe that’s why I never saw anything. I thought briefly about getting a channel but I know I’d then have no idea what to post. I don’t really do anything that’s worth documenting..
I mean, I liked how it looked and none of the controls ever glitched for me. So I always thought it was a pretty decent game, I never played the second one myself, it didn’t really scare me as much as the first one.. How many are there now? Just those two?”
“Well, you don’t have to have a channel. You can just subscribe to videos that you think are cool. Plenty of people don’t post on their own and just check out others’ content. You’d be surprised how much is out there.”
“Yeah, it did have an interesting feel for it. I think there are 4 in the main series and then another game, Sister Location. there’s also FNAF World – an online game and a book. So.. they’ve been making it a real indie franchise while you weren’t looking.”
“Hold on, there were theories for it?” Nonna asked, looking up from her phone screen.
“Gosh. I just thought it was a decently made horror game, I didn’t know that there was anything more to it. Or are people just looking far too deeply into it?”
“So many. There’s still people making theory videos about on Youtube. They make for some interesting watching.” A nod to confirm. “There was a lot of thought put into the games. I think there are definitely more layers to it with the further releases of games within the series.”
