[It takes some time for Juan to think before he gasps.] Ah! I know a stall!

[Aaand he’s too excited now, so he takes Saima’s hand and leads them into the crowded food fest and through the sea of people and food, because at this point Juan’s too jumpy to wait for them and they arrive just in time when the food is ready to be served.] They have the best pork barbecue here!

..Well, alright. 

[There’s always a little fascinating and a bit scary about being with someone who is so obviously excited. But Saima allows Juan to lead them through the crowd to the stall that the other had obviously thought of.]

[It’s not a very long walk really, because soon they can hear loud music and smell different kinds of food being cooked and Juan’s grinning from ear to ear.]

[Like he hasn’t eaten dinner yet. But actually has.]

So, anything you fancy right now?

[the music and the smell catches their attention immediately and happily Saima moves in the direction towards the source.]

Something with pork in it sounds particularly appetizing if it’s available.

“…Sorry.” That was all Juan could think of to say. He couldn’t exactly know how it must have felt like, to live centuries and endure so much. He could only imagine what Saima must have felt, and judging how they talked, it was probably something Juan could not know. And the smile turned into a frown as he looked at them, worried, “…Do you have anyone to help you with it?” 

“Not your fault. I’m just glad you don’t have to deal with all this.” They were honestly glad that humans were spared the fate of having to live through so much and never reach any kind of meaningful rest.

“I guess I have a few people I talk to. But we’re all dealing with it to differing degrees so I don’t know how much they can help.“

Juan listens quietly, just observing how the other talks. He nods at moments, humming as he lets out another smile, “Guess time hasn’t been easy on you, huh? You sound like it, sort of. But yeah, I get what you say, I guess. It’s not easy being someone involved with the history of the world? But you seem to be coping up well.” A pause, “I hope you do?”

“Not at all. Not time nor history, I would say.“ A most unfortunate past somehow managed to linger in Saima’s head often. Driving them to work harder, to do better, to resent loss – all kinds of reactions to the situations they had experienced. “It’s not easy at all. I would not wish it on anyone really.“

The thought of them coping up well causes them to shrug a little. “I can at least maintain the appearance of coping well.”

The small smile widened, however the brown eyes were still soft as Juan turned to look at the ground and shrugged, “That’s good, I’d definitely believe that. I mean… If I were you- like an immortal- I don’t think I would last being so… down for a long time. Being down for a week or so with this lifespan of mine is already draining. But again,” He shrugged once more and sighed, “I don’t think time works the same for you.”

A small nod of agreement.“Perhaps time doesn’t work the same – but that period of feeling down can be truly excruciating. Especially when it’s protracted over years, decades even. And you don’t really see any end to it in sight. I think that draining feeling on seems to intensify despite being used to the idea of things like this could happen to you.“

“Oh, don’t be sorry. I get it, really!” There is no need to keep the other down about it, so he flashes a grin at him before humming and looking around, “There’s someone selling ice cream near here, and there’s a bench there. We can sit there if you want!”

“..Oh well, alright then.“ They gave a small grin, grateful to be able to maybe let it go for a bit.  “Ice cream you say? I could definitely use some of that right now. Maybe sitting at that bench would be good.“
