He
sighed and placed his hands on his arms, briefly squeezing his eyes shut.

”And then……” Eirik spoke, in a very low, husky
voice, “they fight about it.” People made hope for themselves in order to
lessen the darkness around them, but then they used conflicting hope to
perpetuate more darkness. Humans were stubborn, angry. Humans were stupid.
Eirik hated that. Because he loved them, and he wished they weren’t.

A sigh and another nod of agreement. “Yeah. So fiercely. It’s so unfortunate what is supposed to be hopeful can be so easily turned against each other because of conflicting creations. It’s not surprising that they do that, just ..exhausting really.” It happens so frequently in Saam’s experience that it was enough to drain them to their core.

These kinds of conversations always seemed to happen at the most unlikely of times. Now was the wait for a late, late flight.  Eirik’s response had driven Saam to think for a little bit before responing. The other was likely right and the Estonian was not afraid to admit it. “Oh for sure. People need hope, they need explanations for unusual circumstances. They need something to hold on to in one way or another. And they will stop at nothing to create something that suits them.”
