qarthadasht:

Huh, that all sounds like fun. You need to invite me to the next pagan holiday. I know all about being a fun pagan. [ if you have to convince yourself that you’re fun, you’re probably not, but let anysus dream. ]

It has been great to me so far. I’d be glad to invite you to the next thing we have. I’m sure you’ll have a great time with everyone.

[Saam is certainly not going to discourage him, that’s for sure.]

qarthadasht:

Really? Huh. How does that work out?

People go out to the countryside, follow some older superstitions about finding a fern and sleeping with it under their pillow to see their future lover, people go their sauna, they make huge bonfires and try to jump over them for good luck. There’s a lot of singing and dancing by the bonfires. People do a lot of barbecuing and drinking beer.

It’s just fun. And it’s so dedicated as a tradition that in the past people that tried to convert the people would complain that they were more dedicated to Midsummer than to going to church.

qarthadasht:

Oh, I remember midsummer celebrations. That must mean they’ve been around for a long time.

Oh definitely, they’ve lasted for years and years. People at my place get in touch with their pagan beliefs and rituals during the time. It’s really fun.

qarthadasht:

[ he gives saam a fatherly pat on the back. ] Good! I want to France and then to the beach. How are you?

[smiles a bit at that. ] Sounds like a good time. I celebrated Midsummer which was fantastic and things have been pretty okay after that.

qarthadasht:

Glad to see the youth are still grateful these days. I know there was a time in my life where I didn’t have that anymore. [ he’s returning the Cool Dad Hug, of course. ]

I certainly try to be. Have to make the most of what you have while it’s still there.

[Aw yes, good – excellent. ] How’ve you been anyway?

qarthadasht:

I’ll make a mental note! I only want to return the favor. I didn’t live to see the Christians, but seems they’re helping me out.

   Well alright then.

Hm. guess those were good for something.

qarthadasht:

[ He leaves the elephants alone and looks up again. ] Is there a day for children? I would want to get you presents sometime.

…Or, maybe they just call those birthdays.

I mean, birthdays are probably your best bet. My birthday day is in February but I do have a re-established independence day I guess in August too. So that kind of counts for something.

Of course there’s also Christmas in December but that’s a holiday for everyone these days so there’s that as well. Not that you have to get anything for me.

qarthadasht:

Where did you find these? [ He’s already trying to arrange them on the table in a cute formation. ] Look, they’re friends.

I did a little shopping in the Old Town part of my capital and found some cool things there.

[They smile at the attempt to organize the elephants] Aw, what a good friendship. How sweet.
