“Let’s say, a friend hypothetically got back with their ex. This ex was not a good person the first time around, but swears he has changed. Would you be disappointed in that friend?” Erzsi asks with a little hesitation.
“Would it change your opinion of them?” Erzsi needed to gauge their reaction before telling Saima. She knew quite a few people who would be disappointed in her new relationship.
This hypothetical was incredibly telling in itself and if Saima was a little different, they’d just tell Erszi to be open with it. But gauging a reaction was still understandable.
“I mean, I would always be a little concerned initially for someone getting back with their ex. But..then again, considering how long lives of folk like you are, it’s possible that there’s a lot of change that has happened. Besides, there are those who I wouldn’t have possibly been close too a few centuries ago who are good friends today – so my level of concern would depend on who this ex-was too.”
A pause for a moment before getting to the question. “I wouldn’t be disappointed in that friend, and I wouldn’t change my opinion of them. But I’d just tell them to keep a look out for anything too much to handle while getting involved.”
“Saima, I was wondering if I could ask you for some advice,” Erzsi says rubbing the back of her head sheepishly. “Only if you are comfortable, of course.”
“I mean, I’d be glad to hear you out and see what I can give advice for. It not any trouble at all to try and be helpful for you.” They are a little curious about what the nature of this situation is so they might as well find out.
She leads them into the kitchen, where a good amount of counter space was covered in cookies, cupcakes, and one small cake, “Go ahead and take a seat anywhere.”
“And feel free to take anything that piques your fancy,” she gestures to the spread as she grabs a plate out of the cupboard for them. “You have impeccable timing! Any special reason for this visit?”
Lead into the kitchen, Saima feels free to take a spot at the nearest counter space with a chair. Looking over the spread, they can’t help but be thoroughly impressed by the sheer amount of baked goods before them.
“Oh wow, I did seem to arrive just in time. And it’s funny, I didn’t have a special reason – I just had wanted to see you. A lot of changes had happened and so it’d be nice to visit, that’s all really.“
They don’t hesitate to pick up a few cookies for prime snacking.
Erzsi had been having one of those days where she just needed to bake. It didn’t matter what, she just felt compelled to fill her home with the scent of bake goods. So, when her doorbell rang, she was a little confused as to who might be visiting. Had she forgotten she invited someone over? Shaking her head, she places the cake pans in the oven and makes her way to open the door.
“Saima!” Erzsi opens the door excitedly to allow them into her house, “You came at a great time, I just finished baking some cookies and put some cakes in the oven. Come in, come in!”
Saima had been all too willing to visit Erzsi when given the invitation. It was really a no-brainer to spend time with someone they’ve come to truly enjoy over the years. It didn’t take long before the door opens, and Saima gives a slight wave to Erzsi.
“Hey, hey Erszi.“ They greet in return. “Ah just in time for some baking huh? How wonderfully.“ Delighted at such in the way that timing worked out, they happily made their way into the house.
