“All men should have moral guidelines. I have always said that. It’s good to have moral codes and rules you can follow and hold yourself accountable to. But what does one do when you are the very god you pray to? Who keeps the gods accountable?” Despite the introduction of Thoth into his life, Idris has yet to give up on his faith, but it still bothers him to think the other has had his hand in much of his and his son’s life.

“I am refusing to let it end that way, however. Setau has goals to achieve, a full life that he wants to live. He is so pure pf heart he does not even hate Thoth for what he has done.”

“And it’s a good rule to have. And that’s the never-ending question – who looks after the gods and implores them to be responsible for their decisions. It doesn’t really feel like there’s any source for that. Maybe each other and even that can’t be relied upon. “ It was a solid reason for people to be wary of the influence of gods – that lack of relative outsider insight. Some gods may feel compelled to the folks they are responsible for but others are not at all. And one never knows which kind they’re going to deal with.

“Right. And it’s definitely worth trying to see that Setau has a full life. He’s a very good person, and should be able to at least have the chance to make the most of life as he experiences it.“

[text] oh no… you’ve got my sympathies friend 😦

TEXT TO SAIMA 🌤️💕 → it’s alright right now they’re just watching aladdin on their iPad
TEXT TO SAIMA 🌤️💕 → i’m just worried their sleep schedule is going to get messed up because they’re up so late

[text] Ah well, it’s nice they’ve got something to entertain them.

[text] That’s a valid concern, it doesn’t seem like much can really be done here.

“They’re good guys at least…besides we try not to pull that shit so often, you know? I’ve got kids now, some of ‘em do too so like…our recklessness has calmed down…a little.” He snorts and it’s clear he’s not sure about his own words. “I would have liked my tombstone to say something like…Here lies Lázaro Vega…Impaled by cow…No Bull.”

“Yeah I get what you mean. Want to stay alive for the youth and all that.” They can’t help but grin a bit at his snorting. “Clearly there’s still some mischief left in the crew even after all that. That would have made for quite the memorable tombstone. And imagine how that’d get reported.”

misfit-muses‌:

“Tzipporah Repetto, of the Repetto Virtusos” she signed enthusiastically before pausing.

Hmm, so Talia was right, she did have a habit of using her family’s stage name when introducing herself.

“Ah, nice to meet you Tzipporah.” They sign in return. The mention of the virtuosos made them a little curious. “Are you a performer of some kind then?” Saima always did have a fondness for those who created.

“Good morning, my love.” Another kiss, and another, gentle and soft as the brush of a feather.

“Should you like breakfast before we go, ah, how do you say, house-hunting?” An easy grin lit up his face, sitting up now he knew he wouldn’t disrupt them too greatly.

“Good morning, darling.“ They respond softly. Such soft kisses were absolutely precious and Saima didn’t mind returning them in the least.

“Ah, yes – breakfast would be lovely.“ They laughed at Matt’s use of the word ‘house-hunting’. “That’s as good a plan as any,“ humming more, they sit up and stretch their arms a bit.

dxspereaux‌:

“I–I mean…I’m often engrossed by books…so…” He shrugs, not sure if he’s the best judge of good literature; he just loved reading!

“Oh, oh she’s um…” Setau pauses to think, trying to remember her name. “I’m not very familiar with her work but that’s probably because I– She’s Estonian, no? I don’t speak the language…” Ah, what a shame he couldn’t read in all languages! He’s missing out!

“Hah, I can’t blame you for that. It’s easy for me to get engrossed in a book as well.“ Made it all the more intriguing to find things they particularly enjoyed in a new read.

“Ah yes, she’s Estonian. But her work has been translated into English if you’d ever care to check her out.“ Saima had no hesitation in suggesting the work of artists from their current homeland. It was a little sense of pride to show off about their literary capabilities.

“Oh, for sure! I think cookies are their favorite, but they also really like ice cream.” At the mention of the frosty treat Dahlia perks up. “We’re not having ice cream Dali. You haven’t even finished your cookie!”

“Hm, I get that. I like ice cream quite a bit as well – but a good cookie is often so satisfying.” Speaking of which, Saima happily enjoys their own snickerdoodle by taking little bites out of it.

traumeriin‌:

Ari waves back, but Dahlia’s attention is completely consumed by her cookie. “Honestly, these two seem to like any sort of sweet.”

Saima understands the cookie is incredibly important. “I can’t really blame them. I’m pretty game for most sweets as well. The sheer variety can be fascinating to discover.”

dxspereaux‌:

“My problem with Thoth is how he is bound by these laws he creates and bends at will with no regard to how it may affect the people he uses as pawns. I realize as a god, things are different but…” His head nods, agreeing with Saima.

“It wasn’t his choice to make but he did it anyway and Setau has to live knowing he’s another pawn being moved about by his father’s will. It’s not the life I wished for him.”

“And that’s a pretty valid problem to have. Guess that’s the issue with those that are bound by their own ‘laws’ or whatever – too long of operating under those conditions, it becomes more about the constructs than those it has an impact on. “ Saima figures it’s the inevitable problems that come with deities operating within certain perspectives.

“I am deeply sympathetic to that it’s not the life anyone would have wished for their child. It’s so surreal to know that someone you’ve taken care of is ultimately just a part of someone else’s plans.“ A slight tsk.

“You’d think I’ve kicked their puppy, when the plot twist is that I’d sucker punch anyone who kicked a puppy. Then I’d steal the puppy.”

“Hah – guess that’s what people get for making assumptions of you. Some people really never learn to do better. ”
