So you’re here too huh. “ Claire, always the one to strike up a conversation, a backpack slung across her back. Balancing one leg. She nods towards the forest, To try and see the release of the birds they’ve been healing right!

Claire was BUZZING in excitement for this event, how great it was to see nature in action! Not like she doesn’t see it everyday but STILL, EXCITING.

What’s your favorite bird? I think I like owls…or maybe eagles….I own chickens though. She shakes her head quickly, “ Well never mind MY type of bird, I was asking what yours was! “

Forget introducing herself, she considers herself at least a well known acquaintance.

Saima never minded meeting someone also invested in nature. It was one of the easier ways to bond with someone while out and about if only for a little while. “Yeah, I am actually here to see the release of the birds. It’s so exciting to see them fly out and about again.”

There was something about seeing animals taken care of properly and allowed to return to their natural environment that soothed them.

“Hmm, owls are good birds. I also tend to like barn sparrows quite a bit.“

“Does she do mostly, uh, just poetry? Or does she have novels…? I like both b–but I’m just curious.” Setau had to admit he truly did enjoy poetry, Idris having given him many books of that nature when he was young. It was a good way to introduce him to writing as an art form and not just a narrative like some literature.

“She has a really nice short story collection and a novel in addition to her poetry. So you really can’t go wrong with whatever you’d like to read by her.” So one could very easily say that the author in question branched into different ways of conveying her perspective on society.

“Yes, yes! What would you like?” Matt brought himself to his feet, taking a moment to stretch. Should he have been as human as his appearance would suggest he would have cracked and popped in stretching his spine, old joints – instead, he was all too quiet, a curious reflection of his otherworldly origins.

“I am thinking … I have peaches, and the neighbors do not like when I cook.”

At the question of what they would like, Saima paused for a moment as they thought. It was almost overwhelming to think about options for breafast.

“Ah well.. peaches are lovely enough. I always do enjoy having some fruit in the morning. And guess not disturbing the neighbors would be nice.“ Although it’d be better to not worry about disturbing the neighbors too.

He likes to believe there is a separate god for all these…gods. Someone even higher up who tugs at the fate of all– that was what he believed at least. “…As horrible a thought as it may be, I some times wish Thoth stayed hidden…but then again, I am only human. A human father only protecting his son.”

Idris smiles fondly at Saima, just like any father, clearly proud that others could see his child’s good traits. “I appreciate your kind words, those are my sentiments exactly.”

“I mean, that’s a very valid position to have sometimes. For sake of protection, I get wondering if it had been better if he hadn’t revealed himself.“ After all, Saima had often been in the habit of not fully revealing themselves among humans for similar reasons.

“It’s a credit to you that those traits are so visible as a result of how he was raised.“

dxspereaux‌:

“Plus, if we pull any shit and manage to survive? I think all our wives will gang up on us…and kick our asses.” He nods, extremely serious. His wife in particular would throw the biggest fit if she heard he got into any life-threatening mischief.

“It’ll be a hoot, to be honest…They’d better put in like…fifty cow puns in that obituary or I’ll haunt everyone’s ass.”

“As is to be expected from them after pulling stunts like that.“ They understood full well that the wives would have the right to kick some ass after that kind of nonsense.

“Heh, honestly. They better. Or they’ll just have to deal with more puns from the afterlife somehow.“

dxspereaux‌:

“A–At least with my job I can…I can call it research.” His lips curve into a bright smile, thinking his little writer’s joke funny.

“O–Oh, it has? I–I think I must have heard of her b–before it was translated…? Either w–way I’ll have to check on her again.” He can only assume Saima understood the language to be able to recommend her so highly. “Is she…she one of your favorite writers?”

“Hehe, guess that’s one of the hidden perks of the job.“ They reply with a little chuckle of their own.

“Yeah, it was recently translated so you might have missed it before then. ” After all, a lot of Estonian works tended to get translated during particular cycles of interest. “She’s definitely one of my more recent favorites. I tend to span all kinds of eras of writing but… she’s certainly taken my fancy.”

stclhjerte‌:

Help.”

He clarifies with a rough throw of his voice. “A request for help. Why else would you speak to me?”

It’s an honest, if not somewhat rude, question. Why engage with him like this if not to try and acquire his aid?

“Fair. I guess I just wanted to hear what ideas you had.“ Back to the original goal of getting some outside advice on making some changes.

“I mean – also cause I wanted to. But that’s beside the point. I’d like to know what suggestions you had for someone trying to change up things about their writing.“

misfit-muses‌:

“Five years to this day. My parents recruited me when I was sixteen. If I may, have you been to one of our shows?”

“Impressive. I believe I have – but it’s been a few years since I’ve seen it. But I remember it being a really wonderful show.”

Twitch.

“Just… a few? Human worship isn’t as great as it used to be.”

And then-

A ping sound.

“…Do you want some cheese cookies? i’ve been practicing since I ordered that oven online.”

image

“Sadly that appears to be the case. Maybe there’ll be a seasonal uptake around certain dates – they do tend to stick to routine in that way.” It wasn’t uncommon for previously quiet areas to have some activity around specific times of the year.

“Cheese cookies? Sure I’ll try some. “

“I never intended to see drama unfold in a kitchen show. But we are all surprised everyday.”

Clicks the screen again , the show pausing.

“Have you….seen any humans come to the temple lately? on your way here? I know the long cut is gruelling…”

image

“Somehow people find a way to have drama unfold in the unlikeliest of places.” It had its amusing moments.

“I did see a couple of humans stop by the temple to drop things off or make a small prayer. But not too much else.“
