“Amazon. Papa says they don’t really sell them in stores anymore.” Something about them being a bad influence on children or something like that. She wasn’t really paying attention. “I like them though ‘cause they’re sweet and make me look super cool.”
“I see. Explains why I hadn’t really seen any of these in a while.” The concern for children did seem to take things out of stores over the years. And so Saima seems to enjoy the taste a bit.
“They certainly are sweet. There’s something to having a sense of style.“
Rosemary laughs as she pushes some hair behind her ear. “Yeah, I don’t mind it though. It’s honestly worth the mess just to see how excited they get while they do it.”
“Heh, I guess seeing how excited and delighted they get when they get to make you over is worth the cost in that case.”
She leans closer to their phone tapping her foot to the beat. It was a rather infectious beat and Erzsi quite enjoyed it. “Goodness Saima, this is really good. I am glad you found something you love to do. I can’t wait to see the show.”
Saima can’t help but feel a bit of pride when Erszi finds herself enjoying the sound of the music. They figured they had some skill with music and seeing the impact it had on others was especially satisfying. “Ah .. well it’s nice to be able to indulge with creating as much as I wanted to for a while. I promise you, you’ll have a good time.”
Phi was glad that they got her, but still, she couldn’t help but be jealous. They were around when Latin was thriving, and she’d never got that opportunity.
“Man…” If she was tipsy, as in right now, it was a lot harder to suppress those feelings of envy. “If I had my Latin dictionary right now, we could actually have a conversation in a better language. But I don’t, so we can’t.”
She let out a sigh. “English is such a dumb language. I’m over it.”
A sip of their drink as they listened to Phi. “If only. ” Saima didn’t particularly miss Latin due to a lot of the memories attached with it. But they could understand the appeal, or at least the envy of not even having the opportunity to grow up speaking it or something.
Saima nods in agreement. “English is an absurd language for sure. A mishmash of loanwords with no sense of planning or anything.”
Idris nods, glad at least that another of these gods understood his plight. He had been rather worried that they all thought this way. “But such is life. We can only keep our head held up high and move forward.” He sounds a little more confident, a little more like himself.
His smile widens even further, clearly pleased with such kind words offered to him and his son. “You flatter me Saima.”
“Indeed. Might as well make the most of what the opportunity affords you.“ It had been nice to see Idris more into his usual spirits. Despite all the challenges, they respected someone who could take some kind of contentment in life.
Saima returns a smile of their own. “Ah, flattery? Perhaps – but only inadvertently. I only speak what I’ve seen. ”
They think for a moment before responding. “Well. I think one just passed me by a few moments ago heading that way.” They gesture towards the east, thinking that maybe this was the owner of said cat.
“Do you want one?” Eve offers the box filled with candy sticks to them. She has plenty so she doesn’t mind sharing with her friend.
“…Sure. I’ll have one.” With the box offered, Saima takes a candy cigarette from the box. Holding it for a bit, they look at it before putting it in their mouth. “Where’d you get these?”
“Yeah, the only troublesome thing about it is that I can’t always find everything they put in there…so I’ll be brushing my hair and then all of a sudden I’ll find another pin!”
“That would do it. It’s easy for things to get lost in thicker hair. So you’ll never know what might be lurking. Such is the cost of a makeover.”
“September,” Erzsi repeats pulling out her own phone to check her schedule. Luckily, she was free for most of September and would make sure to stay free in order to attend their show. “Please do. I’ll make sure to make the time to come see you.”
“Well, it’s not everyday that people run into someone who compose their own music. Plus, it’s always exciting to hear something new.” Erzsi muses waiting for them to check for any recordings they were willing to share.
“Yeah, it’d be wonderful to have you check out a show.“ They didn’t mind inviting people to upcoming shows – just to have other friends around.
“I suppose so. But I managed to find a little something I did recently. Did this for piano and guitar – had to record each part separately.“ With that, they played a track they had pulled up on this phone that had a combination of folk, classical and indie sounds.
“It is not disturbing, they are just not liking my cooking, which is a shame because I am very good at cooking.” He did have millennia of practice. Besides, it was a point of how he did his cooking, with an open flame conjured on the floor. Not exactly up to health codes.
“We will get some peaches.” He started to the kitchen, pulling peaches from a basket of other fresh fruits. “Did you sleep well, my love?”
“Ah that’s unfortunate. I’m sure that you’ve got a real talent for cooking.“ Saima just knew that Matt was capable of making something interesting with his abilities.
“Sounds delightful. I slept well enough darling. How about you?“ Saima idly followed him into the kitchen.
