•“I’m not quite ready for all the rain again, but if I try to go back it’ll be snowing, so I have to pick the lesser of the two evils.”• Which is definitely the rain, the snow still brought up bad memories for her.

•“I’m doing English Literature and History this time around, which is rather fun. Quite a lot of reading, however. The books I’ve had to purchase rivals the collection I have at home.”• Her back and shoulders ache from carrying them, but they’ve all been interesting thus far.

•“England hasn’t been too bad, honestly. I just like having something to gripe about. It’s the time I was spending in the Americas, everything is so odd there. And then students were telling me about how much they had to pay and I was flabbergasted! Where is Al when you need him?”• She did miss his charm.

“That’s very true. And you might as well go with the evil that you know that you can deal with.“ Saima had been prepared for all kinds of weather for a while but they were still willing to wait a bit on the whole snow thing as much as they liked it.

“Ah, that’s something about reading courses – so many books to get. But I hope the reading has been interesting. Sounds like there’s a lot to explore there.“

“Fair. Sometimes having a reason to gripe can be satisfying in its own right. Yeah, that can be a strange place. Especially in the states. The costs of education there is out of control. I hear he’s got a lot of things going on to have to deal with. “

“Oh, it does. It’s hard to come back from as well. But, if you have good friends and a support system, it might be a little easier to come back,” she muses. “Does making music help with worrying?”

“This is true.“ Things were often complicated by the nature of such support systems but.. Erzsi’s point was understood. “Making muses has definitely helped me a lot. I’ve been channeling a lot of stronger emotions into making music since I haven’t always been comfortable being upfront about my thoughts.“

Staying after a show to see off the audiences had become an
unspoken tradition with the troupe. A handful of the performers would always stay
to speak to and entertain any guests that were straggling.

The crowd was winding down now, Tzipporah herself waving
goodbye to a gaggle of children as they scurried away giggling, one of them clutching
one of her decorative hair clips in hand. But it was alright, Tzipporah had
plenty.

Saima was glad that they had finally got the chance to check out the show. And knowing that they had been invited, they figure they should stick around to talk to Tzipporah.

It was entertaining to see the kids excited to have gotten to meet her. Now that the crowd seemed to be winding down, it seemed to be their moment. Going to approach Tzipporah, they gave a wave in greeting.

Nero squirmed a little in his owner’s arms, but otherwise accepted this defeat as Gio clutched him to her chest. “Thank you… I’m sorry for dragging you into this. Usually I can do this on my own but he must have gotten wise. He knows that something is going on when I won’t let him out the evening before, and he slipped out whilst I wasn’t looking.”

She mutters something to the cat, no doubt scolding him as they walk back towards her home.

“I’ll have to make it up to you somehow.”

“You’re welcome. Seems Nero has a way of picking up on patterns and tries to sneak around them.“ It was honestly something they had seen many times, so it wasn’t surprising per say.

“There’s only so much surprises you can have before he notices when things might happen. But I’m glad I was able to help.“ And frankly, Saima kind of liked Nero for reasons they weren’t sure about at the moment.

“Ah – there’s no rush on that really.“

The deity had been potentially pranking around by interpreting the good luck wish literally. And so they had moved as if they were going to actually try to harm their own leg.

But any efforts at that had come to a halt when a hand comes down on their shoulder. The forced stop was enough to prompt a small bit of laughter in Saima.

“English is so weird – but I suppose it’s a good thing that you stopped my attempt. Don’t mind me, I hadn’t really meant to break my leg – I probably wouldn’t have gotten far with the attempt..“

Nero was very appreciative of the attention granted by Saima, allowing Gio to carefully sneak up behind that cat. It was clear that she had done this before, due to her careful hesitation and precise steps as to not give the game away to the cat. Upon getting close enough, she leant down quickly to scoop the cat up into her arms, pressing him close to her chest.

“Aha! Got’cha! Now, I still need your help.” She nodded a gesture to Saima. “Could you follow me back to the villa? I’ll need your help in getting him into the carrier.”

Even though Saima had knew about Gio’s plan, they were still a little taken aback internally to see the cat snatched up into her arms. They could only suppose the distraction method worked.

“Ah – I guess I can help you out with that.“ It seemed to be a little more involved than they were expecting but maybe helping out with the cat would be worth it.

“I mean, I dunno. I don’t think that should matter. As long as you like them then it’s fine…I mean, they are your eyes after all.”

“True. I might as well like them for what they’re worth.”

I’ll hit the ole boy up on the info. More fun than Google and gives me an excuse to eat something new. If it’s good.

I don’t know if that’s a wise thing to ask, honestly.

Fair enough – might as well get it from the source.

True. Chances are the answer to that is no.

Fair enough. Yeah – mean I find there’s so many subcultures there – makes things interesting. Oof, a fried Snickers bar – that’s wild. But I did have a fried oreo once.. not something to eat regularly but it wasn’t a bad treat.

…The fuck is an oreo? I mean bein’ Dutch means I fry a lot of stuff, but a candy bar is a bit much.

It’s a specific kind of cookie. I wouldn’t be the one to explain it.

Yeah, I wonder if there’s anything that Americans won’t fry.

“Even in stability I get a little nervous. Things go too well and I start wondering what could possibly go wrong,” Erzsi laughs a little. “I just can’t win, y’know. Probably from years of wavering in between.”

“Bless you, Saima. I don’t know what I would do without a friend like you.”

“That’s understandable – I tend to worry about that sometimes too.“ It had been something that had been on their mind from time to time. “Years of being on the edge – being in limbo definitely tends to do that to you.“

“It’s no problem, I’m glad to be of assistance.”
