he admits, wrinkling his nose
a bit, “When it’s cold, I can really start
to  forget  that  I’ll never see it again.”

A small pause before giving a slight nod of recognition. “Fair. Whatever makes it easier to deal with starting over since then. Sincere apologies for the loss of home.” It seemed like that had to be a painful process to say the least.

“I have to admit, I’m also looking forward to the cold. Maybe a break from feeling you have to be in a specific state because of the warmer weather.“

The moments where the world got quiet meant far more to Saima than they could readily express. There was a peacefulness that was often elusive with the world seemingly getting busier and busier. It was part of the reason that they so often retreated to the woods and more isolated places. Although there was still the potential for sound there, it was still often much quieter – much more pleasant to encounter than the buzz of humanity.

So, they appreciated that someone else shared that kind of contentment with a quieter world.

“Incredibly so. I find it easier to just be and exist when it gets quiet. Sometimes you just need that time and space to breathe and not feel so..crammed in by the sound.“

“Then perhaps it’s best not to paint it as a villain anymore, hm?” he asks, leaning back some more in his seat, which creaks lightly beneath him, “Darkness, while scary at first, has become the one true friend you’ve always wanted; it will never leave you, it will always be beside you, no matter your actions.”

Prospect looks away from the sky, staring at the ground below him, where his foot lightly taps against the earth dirt. “At least, that’s how I see it. An old friend. An nonjudgmental being. The only permanence.”

“Very true. I’ve definitely come to not really see it as a villain any longer.“ Despite being all too familiar with darkness, there is something that does appeal to Saima. And they can’t help but admit to Prospect’s point as the glance out into the surroundings.

“It is incredibly loyal, and it’s always good to have something that will be there to turn to. Consistency, always such a rare trait. All the more precious when one encounters it.“

In the relative quiet, Saima just glances out into the darkness before them. After taking a moment to gather their thoughts, they start to respond. “I..I’ve gotten to be comforted by it. It’s familiarity – the fact that something about it stays with you after a long enough time, there’s a comfort there. Even if I’ve gotten that feeling inadvertently.”

A small pause. “One can suspect there might be something else. Whether they actually believe in that possibility is a whole another story.”
