If they other assumed he’d drop everything and rush to his vehicle he was mistaken, Clyde had other work to do. Like everyone else, the soul before him and had to wait the turn and the young mechanid  had no issues making them, or anyone else for that matter do so. Clyde operated on his own time, and when things we’re convenient for him. Gone somewhat were those days of patience on his part and the will to cater to others. It was sad but it was also just the way of the wind.

Time had been passing but Saima also knew that from glancing out a bit, that there were other cars. It only took looking out the office window to realize that there had been other efforts in front of them. Expectations thoroughly put back into check, they returned to their book. It seemed like Clyde would get to it when he got to it.

Clyde was always on some kind of edge, the person before him wasn’t wrong and it wasn’t news, but in the end there was money to be made, and that was sure enough to calm him. “Course I know… and good least ye know ta follow directions…the engine burnt out…there that good?” The mechanic calls out with an irate snort, scratching at his stubble in the heat, watching this new patron waltz back into the office. Clyde had come to his senses, but the attitude wasn’t something he’d bother to leave to behind.

“Of course. Appreciate it!” They manage to call back dryly before getting settled within the office – despite actually appreciating the work done. TThere was something of a humor to which they tried to handle things – even if it was at their own expense. But Saima figured they’d get to reading, might as well kill time while the work was being done.

“Yer all too willing…no protest…makes a little fuckin’ nervous to tell ye the truth”. The novice mechanic snorts with a tilt of his head, joking to say the least, feeling at the other’s edge and anxiety thats all too apparent. “Why don’t ye fuckin’ relax, can see right through ye and make yer way ta the office”. Clyde grumbles with a light roll of his eyes, feeling the California sun burning through his back.

“Fair. Don’t mean to put you on edge.” They give a bit of a self-deprecating laugh. “Just thought you’d know what the situation is – so I don’t any reason to be argumentative about it.” It was just the sheer fact that they had brought the car here for a reason, might as well put some trust in those who worked there.

“Heh, right. I’ll go and get out of your way then. Probably make things smoother anyway.“ With that, Saima moves to head over to the office, it was as good a place as any to wait during the process.

daggermxchanic‌:

“Aye…fuckin’ shouldve’, yer lucky ave’ half the mind ta care about cars enough that I’m not takin this from ye…fer such fuckin’ disregard” The mechanic grumbles, flicking a twice-dirty rag out of his pocket to wipe his hands, while eyes coarse over the soul before him and the mind begins to wonder why people seemed to pay little to no attention to property. Had he the money to afford a newer vehicle, there wasn’t a chance in hell he’d be as oblivious. “I’ll change the oil and fix the leak, but ye gotta wait fer it, hate ta break it ta ye”.

They were already feeling a little embarrassed about the whole deal so they can’t really be bothered to give much of a response to the commentary Maybe they’d be better off just selling the thing and renting for whenever they needed a vehicle. It was something that had been in the back of their mind.

“That’s fine. I don’t have any trouble waiting. You don’t have to be sorry about that at all.“ If it was going to get service, Saima was all too willing to pay the price of time and money just to have things taken care of.

The mechanic drops down to his knees with a hand planted firmly at the car and takes a fine look at the bottom with a wif of his nose. Oil had found itself dripping subtly, perhaps along the other’s route and it brings a squint and an irate breath. “Looks like a damn oil leak…and it smells like shite, how long have ye been drivin’ it this way?” Clyde grunts with a click of his tongue, voice a little edgy,  trying best to get at his feet.

When hearing the mention of an oil leak, Saima nodded as if their suspicions had been confirmed. “Afraid that’s likely the case. Uh – it shouldn’t have been more than a day or so. I don’t drive all that often. Which is why I had to get this checked out as soon as I noticed it.” It was the honest truth, though maybe it was a sharp reminder to check on the car more often even when not actively using it for travel.

“If yer goin’ ta pay…then I’m not goin’ ta be fuckin’ busy”. The mechanic winks at the blonde speaking, his tone ever sardonic as curious eyes ponder over unsure what to really make of them. They seemed a little odd, with a slight questionable habit of gawking,  but they’d made it to their shop, so perhaps that much they’d done right. “Show me the car then…” Clyde grunts, nodding in the other’s directions.

“Heh, fair enough.” They reply with a small laugh – it only made sense even if it was a sarcastic remark. Nonetheless, they lead the way to their car, a simple, silver sedan from a few years back. “It had been mostly working fine but I think there’s a bit of an oil issue going on late. So it’s likely time for a change.”

“Ye got somethin’ fer me to fix, or are ye just fuckin’ staring?” The mechanic squints, wiping at his sweat ridden brow, voice irate and just a touch exasperbated. He disliked having someone peering over him in any respect, and the boy had been doing that for nearly twenty minutes. Clyde was begining to wonder if the other even had a reason for being there, because who in their right mind would linger in a fume infested garage for the fun of it.

Saima glances down at the ground wondering if they should have left a while ago. They weren’t even sure why they had been insistent on just observing the work being done here. Especially since what they had didn’t seem to have that serious of a problem. “Well, I have something that maybe you could take a look at. But I wasn’t sure if you were too busy to check it out or not.”
