How has your muse changed since you’ve first started to write them?

Woo buddy.

It’s been a long, long journey.

Saima has changed a lot. So first they were an APH Estonia muse canon when I first started writing, and they got more and more canon-divergent because I kept making up headcanons that I enjoyed and felt fit into the character really well. Starting to build more of story there. 

And I suppose I started making enough of a headcanon and backstory that honestly, I wasn’t really paying much mind to APH canon at all and so I just associated with the concept because they were still a rep.

But I got into estonian mythology and the idea of the kodukaija and so I was figured this would be a really great way to kind of reset where I’d like to go with this character. And so they are more of a mythology inspired character than anything else.

And so they’ve been on this journey to reconnect with their inherent divinity which has been fascinating to write. And of course doing more discovering about their gender (or relative lack thereof) has been a major change over the years – which I ended up tying into their story a lot.

So there’s been a lot of developments, a lot of interactions with people over time that helped create a picture of how Saima came to exist currently. And a lot of ficing and drabbling to shape out potential ideas for what’s going on internally.

   “Phi’s a pretty interesting individual. Not someone to be messed with but I’ve enjoyed having a few drinks with her. And she’s got some stories to her – and it’s always nice to go into really complicated discussions that might often go over the heads of people who might hear it. It’s fun to have people around that you can talk to in such in-depth ways. 

Definitely looking forward to seeing her again.”

[shakes fist at you. You know just how to get me stressed don’t you.]

[Alright, here’s the basic platonic vibe first – they’ve had a very, fascinating change in relations over the years from enemies to reluctantly working in the same place to modern day casual associated – like I like the thought of them having a drink together because it’d be fun. And these two kind of like to shittalk each other.

Although – it’ll also be funny to have them shit talk other people. Whoo buddy. The wiseass potential there.  I live. It’s a very good and interesting combo since there are layers to how this came about and how that affects the way they interact with each other.

Romanticly – I’m not going to say I don’t have miscellaneous ideas. I can’t say i haven’t been fascinated by seeing some kind of AU where they were previously rivals but with some kind of begrudging respect – end up spending some more time together for a larger purpose and you know shenangans ensue. I feel like it’s a fascinating dynamic – the contrast and surprising similarities just make me think a whole lot. 

But that’s just my odd, odd brain talking. You’re welcome.]

Pastime: Three hobbies they have.

  Hobbies-

‘I tend to spend a lot of my time playing music, composing songs and performing at local venues under some alias or another. So that’s one thing I enjoy.

Another hobby is probably … I’ve been getting into handiwork a bit so I’ve done some knitting and sewing as of late. It’s enjoyable to have created something that you can take comfort in.

I also spend a solid amount of time gaming – I mostly play independent art games but I do enjoy a very challenging platformer and am a sucker for an interesting playstyle.‘

Doing: Three habits that they have.

  Habits:

Running their hands through the back of their hair. It’s soft to touch and honestly is probably a calming mechanism. Also helps them think just to have something running against their fingers. 

At dawn, lurking and running about the forests. It’s one of their favorite ways to start the day and no matter the weather, Saima is all too willing to just wander and move throughout the forest like it’s their own. Because.. it more or less is, to be honest.

Singing to themselves while they work on a task. It’s usually pretty low in volume and more than likely to be in Estonian, although they have sung in older variants while they work on a project. They just enjoy singing and try to incorporate it into their life as often as possible.

You know I don’t comment on this much – but a mildly annoying thing is knowing that I do put a lot of effort of trying to engage with folks by sending things or responding to opens when I can and it’s…eh, I won’t go into detail about it but there is a bit of a drain when I feel like I’m all too willing to put myself out there.

pet peeve? 

Basically when people don’t read and thus operate on assumptions that might not necessarily be true. That’s a bit annoying.

– I’m always over not being able to read themes. I’ve seen themes with really thin containers and I’m just like – do you want people to be able to read your writing or nah?

I don’t know if you’d believe me but.. I embody a certain magic that accompanies stories from Estonia. So, there’s kind of mythical origin for my existence.

6. how are you and your muse alike?

Saima and I are both huge music nerds. We both have a thing for sweets and mythology. We like being by the water and we both tend to get lost in our own heads a solid amount of the time. Can lead to some reclusive tendencies from time to time.

20. favorite cryptid(s)?

I like all the cryptids. Cryptids are so damn cool. But I am fascinated by the Mothman in particular. 

28. metal, folk, pop or ambient?

…hmm out of these four? Probably metal. I can enjoy all of them fine enough but metal is what I actively like listening too out of these. Although it could be pop depending on the time period.

Covering both my ooc names – Kyrian means lord in greek, Mari is short for Mariama (meaning child of god)

21. do you believe in extraterrestrial life?

I think there’s a possibility of extraterrestrial life. Whether contact will actually be made with them, I have my doubts. Cause humans man are absurd and ridiculous – if there are other species, there are good reasons for not to be bothered with our nonsense.
