“Definitely.” Rosemary giggles as she picks up a small hoodie with bear ears. “Honestly, I’m more willing to spend money on clothes for my kids than stuff for me…Shopping for them is just much more fun!”
“That’s totally fair.” They glance around casually at the selection. “Besides, it seems like all the fun clothing is often for kids anyway. Not many willing to have kind of silly and fun things for adults these days.”
Aw, dang it. Nah, it’s okay. I just got too excited and grazed my elbow up real bad against a wall. Was hoping I could cover it up rather than having it bleed into my shirt.
Ah, dang – that’s unfortunate. I get wanting to cover it up. I hp[e it doesn’t turn out to be too inconveniet for you. Such bang-ups are always annoying.
“Good Heavens, why on Earth should you be thanking me?” Their thanks were not given to the wrong person, of course. Yet Lilli dearly hated a fuss and she would rather one not be made for her sake. She didn’t send the pearls with the need for gratitude, after all.
“I have simply said what is true: you would look divine in pearls. They will go with much of your wardrobe.”
“Because I simply wanted to acknowledge that I appreciated them a lot, that’s all.“ It didn’t seem like Saima to not at least thank someone for a gift when they got the opportunity to do so. It didn’t have to be a whole affair, but a small moment was something they could not pass up.
“Hm, this is very true. Good call, as to be expected in style.“
“Right, where the braid begins. I got it.“ Saima listens carefully to the instructions and follows them carefully to make sure the flower was placed in the right position. Accepting the bobby pin, they use it to place the flower right when it’s ready. “You’re very welcome, glad to be able to help. I’m not entirely sure what I could potentially ask for from you. “
“Oh yes. I would imagine that this is quite the busy time for them. What with shedding their leaves and all. Everyone is going to sleep.” Lilli laughs softly to herself and puts the kettle on the stove. This is good. Conversation and keeping busy is good. It keeps her mind well occupied.
Saima’s mention of the choker catches her attention and instantly Lilli is relieved. So it arrived, then. There is something to say for the postal system in their country after all.
“Well that was thoughtful and it was a gift well made. I think you would look lovely in pearls.”
“Hah yes. Everyone is preparing to rest for a little while. It’s been a full year for them. it’s about time they take a little bit to recover and calm down.“ Saima laughs a bit in agreement.
“I really wanted to thank you for that. I honestly gasped seeing it – the idea of wearing pearls was something that had never really occurred to me. So I’m excited for the chance to wear it out and about.”
“Oh, good. I’ll put a kettle on.” Lilli abandons her mug in favor of putting the kettle on for Saima. While she’s at it, she adds in a little extra water for herself for a second cup. Lilli won’t say that Saima has come at a bad time but it’s certainly a more tense atmosphere that then possibly expected.
“How have you been? What are the forests saying this week?”
“Appreciate, that a lot.“ There’s definitely something that they notice but am uncertain about mentioning it. Perhaps it would be too much to get into.
“I have been well. The forests have been dealing with the changing seasons and dealing with the side effects of that. They’ve been so used to the process but it’s still a lot to witness and experience the slow preparation for winter. Additionally, I got a pearl choker necklace in the mail. I wasn’t really expecting that – but it was a nice surprise.“
Smiling a little bit in return, they return the nudging in kind. A form a friendly affection upon making themselves comfortable. “Hey there, Lilli. Tea sounds delightful actually.” Felt like an appropriately relaxing drink for a low-key visit.
Rosemary nods as she walks to the clothing aisle. Picking out outfits for her children has always been her favorite part of the shopping experience. “The baby is due in February, so I want to pick out some warmer clothes. Have you seen those tiny lil’ puffer jackets for babies? They’re beyond cute!”
Saima aims to just accompany Rosemary and be of service whenever possible. “Ah I see. Warmer clothes would be ideal for that time for sure. I think I have – they are so, so cute. I don’t know who came up with them – but I guess appealing to the parents is always a good idea.”
“Thanks for coming with me.” By the end of the week Rosemary will officially be in her second trimester, so she thought she should start shopping for baby supplies. Much to her delight her friend agreed to join her while she did so. “Have you ever gone shopping for baby stuff before? It can honestly be a lil’ overwhelming…”
“You’re welcome. Glad I was able to help.” It seemed like the very least that Saima could do was to offer help or at least, companionship while going shopping for baby supplies. “Ah, can’t really say that I have. I know there’s a lot of stuff out there so it can be something to navigate.”
