“Exactly. You understand it perfectly, Saima. Outfits may come and go; however, good, classic pieces will always be en vogue.” The cat returned Saima’s stare on an almost accusatory level. His tail flicked lazily while the entity and the cat measured one another up before he ultimately decided the other was not worth the trouble and laid his head down for a nap.

“Helios be nice to Saima!” Lilli made her way over to the pair and drops some pink shoes on the bed so she could lavish affection upon the cat. “Your Uncle Euros is rubbing off on you! So judgmental! So lazy!” After a few more babbling coos, the cat was released to his own devices and Lilli turned to address Saima once more.

“I will have Janli help me pick out jewelry to wear. You have been utterly divine, Saima. And for your infinite patience, I’ve decided to take you out for lunch.”

A nod of understanding – at least in terms of what Lilli was about. The cat’s accusatory stare didn’t faze Saima in the least. Cats were going to be judgmental, it seems to be part of their nature.

“Haha, it’s fine. I expect nothing more from dear Helios. He does as he wishes.“ As long as Lilli got to lavish some affection on the cat, Saima was satisfied with the sight of such interaction.

“Good idea.“ They return a small smile, glad to have been helpful. “Please, I don’t mind helping. Although I am always grateful for a good lunch.“

“That’s why I can’t sign confidentiality agreements. It’s more satisfying when I can dish out all the tiny, annoying fucking details about a person,”

Vin’s cackling is less than cute but oh my god, relatable, “especially after I beat them in an argument.”

“That’s totally fair. At least you know not to bother trying to go with those agreements when you already understand that you’re not going to live by them.“ They sympathize with that satisfaction although they often don’t care to share too many details about in most cases.

“Oh fun. Nothing like being able to point out why they were wrong in every way.“

It had become easy for Saima to lose track of the time. Years could pass and it barely felt like the blink of an eye. And yet, despite the passage of time, Saima still relished the feel of a precious connection, one easily cherished regardless of circumstances. Making their way through the crowd, they found themselves enveloped in a surprise embrace. At first, a little unnerving before the voice making them realize it was none other than Atlas. Oh, how they had missed him so.

“Indeed, it has to have been way too long.“ A smile of comfort, they ease into that hug, placing their hands along his. “It’s definitely wonderful to see you again.”

Subtle. That is a word no one has ever used about Lilli’s vibrant wardrobe. Yet there is something to be said for subtle elegance. As they Saima said, it has this air of effortless grace to it. Lilli sees it in their choice of outfits all the time. It could be something she can pull off, as well, if she plays it right.

“I will have to go out and purchase a khaki skirt. A very pale one to match with the palette. I don’t think my light blue skirt will work.” This is good. This is progress. No doubt Saima is happy for an advancement in this discussion given the amount of clothes tossed aside.

While Lilli shuffles about the closet looking for a suitable pair of shoes, one of the cats decides to make themselves known by perching atop the pile of clothes. Black fur is merciless as it coats the colorful fabrics but such is the sacrifice this pile makes for serving as a soft cat bed.

“Good move. Besides, it wouldn’t hurt to have a nice pale khaki skirt around. It could definitely serve other purposes.“ They were always a fan of when having to get a new item, being sure to make sure one could get multiple uses out of it. Therefore, it’s more than a one-time purchase, it’s an addition to rotating pieces.

Saima likes the fact that there is finally some progress being made. Although they didn’t mind watching Lilli go through her clothes, it was still quite the lengthy experience overall.

Their gaze turns to the cat on top of the pile of clothes and for a moment, they just enjoy the sight – relating to that leisurely demeanor.

“Not unless you erase knowledge of them. Forever. Which would be the most permanent permanent way to cut them off. From everybody’s life.” He taps his forehead with the fork because he’s a smart cookie.

“I don’t think I’d go that far, though. Otherwise nobody would know how much they sucked, and I need someone to relate, you know?”

A nod, Vin’s got a point. This whole deal is absurd but Vin does have a point – which Saima is willing to concede.

“Right, right. I think you definitely would need for people to know the wrong that’s been done to you. Gotta justify the actions taken one way or another.“

Ever since Saima revealed they wore sheer tops layered over others and Lilli replicated that look with her own success, she has come to firmly trust their opinion on fashion. While it is true that the Estonian tends to favor androgyny and styles far more modern than Lilli would dare to touch, their perspective on overall principles of fashion is solid. Besides, what girl couldn’t use some more modern flair in her wardrobe? So chic.

“No, you are right. It is too dour.” Lilli sighs as she rifles among the hangers, shoving aside quite a few neutrals far too large for her frame.

“Saima, this is just awful. All of my casual neutrals are in Vaduz where they will be stored until Lent. I don’t have any of that for a casual visit and my figure is hardly ready for such severity in any case.” After much of Jan’s clothes are haplessly shoved aside, Lilli’s hands finally settle on a dusty rose-colored blazer which she yanks off the rack.

“We will simply have to settle for rose. It is the closest thing to a neutral I have. Perhaps with a cream blouse?”

They sympathize with the fact that many of Lilli’s clothes are still in Vaduz and likely not to be accessible for another few months. It seemed like such a weird joke for life to play on her when it comes to dealing with such situations. “Aw, that’s quite unfortunate.”

“Rose should work just fine. It didn’t have to be a neutral necessarily. Just nothing overtly loud.“ Subtlety was key when working with not appearing to try to hard and still have a very well put together look.

“Hm.. cream blouse would be good yes. Those colors can go together quite well.“

“Saima, in your opinion what does one wear when one is calling upon another person in polite return for their initial visit? But the two of you don’t really get on and you want to dress to impress and maybe intimidate without looking like you are trying so hard?” Lilli huffed and pulled a black dress from her closet, holding it to her frame before immediately tossing it onto the bed among the discards. “Not until Arthur’s funeral.”

Being asked for their opinion on outfits had become quite an interesting situation. But since Saima had gone through the trouble of developing a true sense of style for themselves, it wasn’t too absurd to think that they would have an opinion here and there.

“Hm. I tend to lean towards a business casual kind of vibe in that case. Look sharp as you have a lot going on in your life but it’s not a totally formal affair. I think aiming for subtle colors that clearly favor you is important for being impressive without overbearing. And maybe ensuring that your silhouette makes a good impression might help.“

The tossing of the black dress was a good idea. “Right, you don’t want to be dour about the whole deal. At least I don’t think you do.”
